Cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty combined

Are there any age restrictions for rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty is recommended only for adults or teenagers with complete nasal development. Generally, we require that our Houston rhinoplasty patients are age 16 or older, although there may be exceptions in cases of nasal deformity or injury where nasal reconstruction is needed.

Where do I find information on healing and recovery after a nose job?

No matter how many patient profiles you read, it is important to recognize that every patient is unique and will experience his or her own healing pattern based on factors including genetics, diet, lifestyle, and pre-existing health conditions. However, you can make sure you follow your postoperative instructions and come in for follow-up appointments so that we can ensure you are healing in the best manner possible. To learn more about the nose surgery recovery process, please schedule a personal consultation at the Belage Center.

Should I bring in some photos of noses that I like?

Photos can be very helpful in communicating certain goals that you would like to achieve in reshaping your own nose. If you have any images of noses that are particularly attractive to you, feel free to share them with Dr. Yalamanchili. Of course, it is important to remember that photos of other people can only serve as a starting point in a discussion about what improvements you would like to see in your own face. Although Dr. Yalamanchili will help guide you toward discovering your ideal nose, his goal is to make sure that any changes appear natural. Your rhinoplasty result should look like a nose you could have been born with. If you are not sure of what kinds of changes you are looking for, our team can guide you to an aesthetically pleasing model with the help of sophisticated digital imaging and our before-and-after photos.

Is it possible to have additional cosmetic procedures performed at the same time as a nose job?

Yes. Depending on your overall facial profile, Dr. Yalamanchili might suggest a procedure in to be performed in combination with your nose job. Chin augmentation with chin implants or cheek augmentation can be a good choice to the attractive, balanced facial profile many rhinoplasty patients desire. If you are also concerned about signs of facial aging, you may be a candidate for brow lift, eyelid, or facelift surgery.

An experienced, double board-certified surgeon, Dr. Yalamanchili makes the physical and emotional wellbeing of each patient a priority.

What is the difference between an open and closed rhinoplasty?

In a closed rhinoplasty, incisions are made inside the nose only. The open rhinoplasty technique uses internal incisions and an additional small, discreet external incision along the underside of the nose. Open rhinoplasty allows Dr. Yalamanchili to have a much larger field of view of the inner nasal anatomy. More importantly, Dr. Yalamanchili can make very specific and precise adjustments in the various structures of the nose as needed. The closed rhinoplasty approach can be useful in cases where the nose requires a smaller amount of work. Dr. Yalamanchili has extensive experience with both techniques and will determine which one is right for you after reviewing your goals for rhinoplasty.

What is ethnic rhinoplasty?

The noses of people of different ethnicities often have unique characteristics. These physical features vary, but the goal of all rhinoplasty procedures is to create balance and harmony with the rest of the face. That requires a surgeon with the aesthetic sense to alter the structure of the nose while still preserving features that a patient desires. As a surgeon who’s proud of his ethnic heritage, Dr. Yalamanchili understands the sensitivity of this procedure and is trained to perform rhinoplasty for patients of any ethnicity.

Is there anything I can do to make my recuperation easier?

Yes. Although Dr. Yalamanchili provides you with detailed post-surgical instructions prior to your rhinoplasty, there are a few guidelines that apply to the majority of patients. For the most part, discomfort is manageable with prescribed medications, but it’s important that you refrain from driving or operating heavy machinery while you are using these drugs. Additionally, you may wish to apply a cold compress to the area around your nose — but not the nose itself — to minimize swelling. You should avoid any activities that raise your heart rate or blood pressure for at least a couple of days, as vigorous exercise can affect your results. Finally, Dr. Yalamanchili advises most patients to sleep with their heads elevated for about a week to further reduce swelling.

When can I return to work or school?

Although rhinoplasty isn’t known for being painful, many people feel self-conscious about the bandages or splints they must wear after surgery. Of course, it depends on the specifics of your surgery, but most people can return to work and other social activities after their dressings are removed, typically after 1 or 2 weeks.

Dr. Yalamanchili’s patients benefit from his extensive training and experience in rhinoplasty. Certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology, Dr. Yalamanchili has honed surgical techniques that help minimize trauma to the nose during the procedure. That helps to limit recovery time. If you are planning to get rhinoplasty surgery before a significant social engagement, such as a wedding, we recommend you allow at least a couple of months between the surgery and the event date so the residual swelling and bruising have mostly resolved.

How long will my results last?

Because the nose doesn’t age the way the rest of the body does, you can expect your rhinoplasty results to be permanent unless you injure your nose or undergo revisionary surgery.

How much does rhinoplasty cost?

The cost of rhinoplasty varies based primarily on the extent of the procedure required. A more complicated surgery may take longer and generally cost more than a simpler procedure. Dr. Yalamanchili and the rest of our Belage Center team are committed to making cosmetic surgery accessible to as many people as possible. That’s why we offer financing options through CareCredit®. We are happy to provide a personalized quote based on the specifics of your procedure during a consultation.

Can I have rhinoplasty for a second time?

The majority of patients are satisfied with the results of rhinoplasty surgery, but Dr. Yalamanchili sometimes sees patients who, for various reasons, want a second nose surgery after having rhinoplasty performed by a different surgeon. Dr. Yalamanchili is an experienced revision rhinoplasty specialist and is happy to take on these cases, which are typically more complicated than the first rhinoplasty. There may be too little cartilage remaining in the nose, requiring grafts from elsewhere (usually the ear), or there may be excessive scar tissue. Dr. Yalamanchili is experienced at addressing these specialized needs.

The first step in having the nose you have dreamed about is just a phone call away.
