The effects of the aging process around the eyes are usually the most noticeable signs of aging in the face. Your eyes are what people look at when they interact with you, so it is hard to hide these aging signs. It should come as no surprise, then, that eyelid rejuvenation is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures. During your 40s and 50s eyelid skin becomes thinner and loses elasticity. The eyelids can begin to droop and can even eventually obstruct some of your peripheral vision. Frequently, the fat that normally surrounds your eyes can also begin to protrude with age, leading to the formation of bags or pouches around the eyes. Eyelid lift surgery, or blepharoplasty, in Houston at the Belage Center for Facial Plastic Surgery rejuvenates the eye area through the gentle and precise removal of the excess eyelid skin and/or fat as necessary. Dr. Yalamanchili can perform this procedure on the upper eyelids as well as on the lower eyelids depending on what is required for an optimal result.
Dr. Haresh Yalamanchili looks forward to answering all of your questions about eyelid surgery when you visit him in Houston, TX. To get started, request a consultation at the Belage Center for Facial Plastic Surgery or call our office at (713) 978-7878 to schedule an appointment.
Benefits of Eyelid Surgery
Eyelid surgery also called an eyelid lift, is a time-tested procedure at our Houston cosmetic center. It is so popular because of its significant impact on enhancing our patients’ appearances. The tired, fatigued, or sad appearance that accompanies the drooping of the eyelids can be effectively rejuvenated to reveal a much more refreshed, relaxed, and engaging look. Blepharoplasty can allow you to rediscover the natural beauty of your eyes. Both men and women can benefit from eyelid surgery (see before & after photos of Dr. Yalamanchili’s patients below), as it can reignite a feeling of vitality and youthfulness.
This 50-year-old woman came to my office seeking a refreshed look. She felt that by the end of the day, her eyelids felt quite heavy and would droop—giving her a very tired appearance. The natural-looking results of her upper eyelid Blepharoplasty gave this lady just the right amount of rejuvenation, without leaving her looking like she had any “work” done. Here is an example of a lower blepharoplasty in a 53-year old gentleman who was concerned with the “dark circles” underneath his eyes. One can appreciate the impact this procedure can have in making a person look less tired and fatigued. View more photos of Dr. Yalamanchili’s real patients.
It is always gratifying to hear our patients comment on how surprised they are that this relatively straightforward procedure leads to such a profound, natural-looking enhancement of their overall appearance, as well as a renewed self-confidence.
The Blepharoplasty Technique
For blepharoplasty, you will be placed under local anesthesia with deep IV sedation or general anesthesia. Dr. Yalamanchili places the incisions for upper eyelid surgery along the natural crease where they will fade to a thin line and be unnoticeable. For the lower eyelids, he places the incisions along the lower lash line or inside the lower eyelids where the resulting fine scars will be hidden.
To minimize drooping or heavy eyelids, Dr. Yalamanchili will carefully remove excess eyelid skin, along with any fat deposits that weigh the eyelids down. Sometimes, fat can be relocated to minimize the signs of hollowness in the under-eye area.

Blepharoplasty as Part of a Facial Makeover
The tired eyelids are a great place to start if you are unhappy with the signs of aging in your face. If this is the only area where you are bothered by sagging, loose skin, eyelid surgery may well be the only procedure you need.
Drooping of the brow area also frequently impacts the appearance of the eyes. As the brow region descends with age, it weighs down on the upper eyelids and creates additional “heaviness” in the eyelids. When this is the case, it is important to consider the benefit of a brow lift in conjunction with an eyelid lift in order to achieve your best result in refreshing the upper half of your face.
Crow’s Feet & Wrinkles
If you have extensive etched-in wrinkle lines and crow’s feet around your eyes, a skin resurfacing technique, such as a laser treatment or chemical peel, may be an excellent way to enhance the final result of your blepharoplasty. If there are several areas of your face that are plagued with wrinkling or sagging, you may want to consider combining treatments for a comprehensive facial makeover with natural-looking results.
Lower Face & Neck
Dr. Yalamanchili can tell you about other procedures that work well with an eyelid lift to rejuvenate the lower face and neck, such as:
If you are concerned about skin imperfections, non-surgical skincare treatments can further your rejuvenation efforts.
