There are certain features of the body that tend to bleed into our overall appearance. These features draw little to no attention – until something occurs that drastically alters their appearance, making these once-unnoticed features stand out like a bad haircut.
The most attention the earlobes tend to get is when they have a shiny or ornate earring hanging from them. Unfortunately, these seemingly harmless pieces of jewelry can become the cause of a lot of pain and potential embarrassment when they end up damaging, stretching, or completely tearing the earlobe.
This problem is not only painful, it leaves you with loose dangling flaps on the ends of your ear that draw the unwanted attention of everyone around you.
Earlobe repair is an outpatient procedure that repairs damage to the lobe and helps restore it to its original size and shape.
If you are interested in restoring your earlobes, the Belage Center provides earlobe repair in Houston. Keep reading to determine if you are a good candidate or call our office at (713) 978-7878 to schedule an appointment.

Earlobe surgery can be performed on adults or children who have suffered damage to their earlobes. Patients who undergo earlobe surgery do so to correct the damage and aesthetic dissatisfaction caused by trauma, earrings, or gauges/plugs. One common instance of trauma is when an earring catches on something, forcefully pulling on the lobe and resulting in severe stretching or a painful tear.
Regular stress on the earlobe can lead to large slits or sagging lobes that may make patients feel self-conscious about wearing certain jewelry or hairstyles. This stress is typically caused by repeatedly wearing heavy earrings.
Earlobe repair is performed on an outpatient basis, usually under local anesthesia, meaning the region is numbed to any pain that would otherwise occur. The procedure is relatively quick and straightforward and is tailored to your unique concerns and needs.
In order to restore the appearance of the earlobe, the damaged and torn tissues must be removed. Once the tissues are excised, the two sides of the lobe is carefully sutured together. As the area heals, the two sides of the lobe will rejoin into one singular piece. Once the earlobe has healed, the sutures can be removed.
Special suturing techniques are used on the earlobe incision to ensure minimal scarring after the procedure. Once the earlobe is completely healed, most patients are able to pierce the ear and wear earrings again if desired.
There is no downtime associated with earlobe surgery. You will be able to resume your normal activities the same day as your procedure. It is best to avoid sleeping directly on the ear during recovery.
