How Do Dermal Fillers Work?

As we age, our face loses volume. This loss of volume can cause areas of the face to look gaunt, deflated, and tired. Dermal fillers are used to replace this lost volume by targeting areas of the face.  Dr. Yalamanchili skillfully injects Dermal fillers in the exact location needing corrections, providing our clients with a natural-looking result.

There is a wide range of uses for Dermal filler. Different types of Dermal fillers work in different ways to produce a volumizing effect. Some of those include:

  • Face Sculpting – Dermal fillers can be used to correct the shape of your chin and/or cheekbones. With the correct technique, Dermal fillers can be used to improve the natural symmetry of your face.
  • Reshaping of the Nose (Nonsurgical Rhinoplasty) – Modify the appearance of the nose or dorsal hump
  • Under Eye Treatment – Address the dark circles and sunken-in-look associated with volume loss
  • Lip Plumping – Enhance thinner lips and restore aging lips to a more youthful look
  • Earlobe Volume Restoration – Reverse the effects of heavy earring use by using Dermal fillers to create volume in deflated or droopy earlobes

Other Dermal filler Uses

  • Smooth wrinkles around the mouth and nose
  • Soften shallow scars
  • Restore volume in the back of the hands
  • Smooth the jawline
  • Reduce the appearance of jowls

What Are The Types Of Dermal Fillers?

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid is the most common Dermal filler and is a naturally occurring substance and has become one of the most popular kinds of injectable fillers.  Dermal filler is placed under the skin’s surface to give a natural plumping effect in the face.

Hyaluronic acid is not permanent and will break down and be absorbed into the body over time. Depending on the type of filler used, results can last up to 1-2 years.

Hyaluronic acid is a gel that comes in many different brand names. Each of these subtypes of hyaluronic acid can be used for different purposes. We have experience with all the popular brands and Dr. Yalamanchili will help determine which is best for your particular goals.

Sculptra

Sculptra is an entirely different type of Dermal filler than Hyaluronic Acid. It is a poly-L-lactic acid in a powdered form. This Dermal filler is mixed with saline before it is injected and works by stimulating the production of collagen over several weeks, resulting in a gradual plumping effect.

This product is ideal for areas where there is significant volume loss such as the cheeks and temples. Because it is dependent on your body’s ability to make collagen, results increase gradually over time and can last up to two years.
