Mohs Reconstruction
After your Mohs surgeon has determined that the area is cancer-free, he or she will give the green light for reconstructive surgery. The majority of reconstructive procedures are done using local anesthesia and typically last between one and two hours. Larger, more complicated defects can require a more extensive procedure, however. It is often beneficial to consult with Dr. Yalamanchili prior to the removal of the skin cancer in order to have an initial discussion about the potential reconstructive options.

Designing Your Reconstruction
Facial reconstruction requires a great deal of personalization. Dr. Yalamanchili will choose from many different types of flap or graft techniques to create the most natural results possible. The reconstructive technique selected to repair your skin cancer defect will depend on a variety of factors, including the amount of tissue removed during your Mohs surgery, your cancer surgeon’s input, and the current condition of your skin and underlying tissue. During your first visit with our reconstructive team, we will show you how we have been able to improve the appearance of other cancer patients and help you understand what reconstruction can do for you.
The removal of skin cancer from your face is a traumatic experience and it is normal to be concerned about how your face will look after everything has healed.
